Welcome to my first ever tutorial on how to make a nice Gimp signature tutorial! Today you will be making something like these: Mine Black Mage Keyblade21's 1. Open up a blank, fresh document in Gimp. 2. Take out your gradient tool, and switch your foreground color to white, and your background to black. 3. On the gradient menu, change the tab of "Shape" from "Linear" to "Radial" 4. Drag the gradient on the piece vertically(From the bottom to the top so you have a black backgound, and a white half-circle should be in the middle. 5. Then take the smudge tool, with the apply jitter on at a rate of 50. Then pull out out a splatter brush(If you don't have one then look at the end here and I'll explain what to do) and smudge the white circle outward, untill you get a messy white blob in the middle. 6. Duplicate the layer once(So you shold have 2 layers that are the same.) Set the the first of the duplicated layers to the layer mode of "Screen". 7. Now add a C4d, DIRECTLEY under the screen duplicate layer, and it should be above the normal background layer. Set the C4d layer to "Screen". 8. Set your foreground color to black, and your background color to white. Then select Colors-Map-Then Gradiant Map.(Make sure that the C4d layer is selected while doing this step, and the next step too.) 9. This is very easy: Select Layer-Mast-Add Layer Mask. 10. On the "Layers" menu, right click the C4d layer. Then select "Merge Down" (Now you should have 2 layers) Merge the top layer down. (Note: you MUST merge it this order) 11. Now open up your render onto the piece, and place it where you like. 12. A bit tricky: Open up the Gradiant tool at the same EXACT settings as last time. But now set the mode on the gradiant tool to "Overlay". Then drag it upward on your render, and it should brighten up your render. ; ) 13. Now select 2 colors from your render, by useing the tool that looks like an eye dropper. And make them your foreground colors and your background colors. (Or you can put 1 color as both of your background and foreground ;D) Then drag it across your piece, yay! colors! Duplicate it twice and set the top layer's opacity to 75, and the middle layer to 25. 14. Save! Put whatever you like, BUT be sure to make like this: blahblah.xcf Be sure to include the .xcf! 15. Add a text of your choice I like it to match my colors of the signature, hint hint. 16. Merge everything down, so you just have 1 "Background" layer. Now go to Select-All, and a dotted line should be moving around your piece. (Now switch your foregroundcolor to whatever you ant your border color to be =D) 17. Make a new layer, on that layer then go to Edit-Stroke Selection. A screen will pop up, next to "Line Width" put whatever you like, i personally like "2.0" Select "OK" and you're done! (Not quite yet)Merge down that new layer, so you only have 1 again. 18. Saving: File-Save As, then give it a name then follow it with .png. (Not .xcf, .png instead.) Voila! You re now finished, thanks so much for trying this out! Extras: How to get splatter brushes, for to smudge with: Go to http://deviantart.com and in the searc box, type in splatter brushes. Save them somewhere, I don't care where. Then find the brushes file, open it up and select all of the files inside and copy them. Paste them in the "Local Disk" file. In there select "Program File" find Gimp. then inside press the share folder, then Gimp, then 2.0, then brushes, and the paste it in there. =D Thanks again! I'm doing you a favor here by giving critique xD You've learned how to used C4D's, I'll give you that, but theres no depth to it. Have you tried using the path tool? *pen toll in photoshop* try some clip masking, it can work wonders if done right. you should try doing something different with the text, it stands out to much with this kind of background. |
