I want you, PH68 (what's your real name?), to select my sig as if it was text. Do you notice that it is bigger than it looks? That space you can't see without selecting is called transparency. It's like a glass that lets you see what's behind. Try it out. On GIMP, select: file > new > advanced options > fill with > transparency. Draw a letter or something on it and upload it, then show it to us. NOTE: make sure you export it as .png, since it is the only extension I know that can support transparency. EDIT: Extra: A cool thing you can try is adding a shadow to your drawing, like in my signature. It's quite simple, actually. Go to Filters > Light and Shadow > Drop Shadow, then click OK. The Filters menu is a wonderful place to add effects to signatures or any kind of images. I suggest you to explore and test the filters to see which one you like the most.
