Pokemon Platinum

Pokemon Platinum is the third game in the 4th Gen series, the sequel to D+P. It replaces Dialga/Palkia with Giratina (seen here with its D+P Forme and Origin Forme} as the main Pokemon. It is speculated that Dialga and Palkia will be catchable somewhere is in Sinnoh, but that is just speculation. Giratina's Origin Forme is apparently set to occur naturally only in the Torn World. The Origin Forme's ability is Levitate.

Its release will probably coordinate with the release of the 11th movie in the US, where Shaymin will be officially revealed. Shaymin also gets a new Forme (seen here) and can switch inbetween the two Formes by use of a special item recived in Floraroma Town, most likely as a tie-in to the Shaymin Event. Sky Forme's ability is Serene Grace, and it can learn Air Slash in that Forme. Apparently the special item used to transform Shaymin can only be used during the Morning, Day and Afternoon.

It will keep Wi-fi, Pal Park, possibly the Underground. Set changes in Wi-fi are that it has a new feature that allows for some areas to support around 20 people, and the GTS has been upsized. There is also a Battle Recorder, similar to the one used the the Battle Frontier in Emerald. There are apparently new areas in the Battle Zone this time around as well. It will also keep many a location unaltered, but some locations are new and different, like the Torn World, which will be discussed as more info comes in. There is something new about Regigigas, as you dont need to Migrate the other three Regis over. They apparently have there own caves which appear around Sinnoh at a certain point in the game.

The protagonists have a new costume as well, though it seems as if you can choose the old look as well. The reason for the new look is that apparently, Sinnoh grew much colder all of a sudden, and your character is investigating the disturbance. Team Galatic is back, and it would seem that both their ranks and plan have been stepped up a notch. Apparently they have attracted the intrest of an international police force, which [SPECULATION] may mean that you can go to another Region [SPECULATION]. Bidoof also has a new sprite, and it is unknown if all Pokemon will undergo a sprite change at this time. Giratina's D+P Forme seems to have a new sprite, as well as the Origin Forme from the above picture. Piplup and Croagunk have new forms as well, which probably means that all Pokemon will get a new form for Platinum as they did for Emerald. Here is a page for the snapshots of the game: Platinum Pre-Release Pictures.

The game's release in Japan is schedueled for September 13, 2008. If they keep to the same schedule as they did with D+P, we Americans could expect Platunum around early to mid April. Here are my calculations:

D+P came out on September 28th, 2006 in Japan. It came out on April 22, 2007 in America. So by adding the number of days left in each month till the American release, we get.....

2+31+30+31+31+28+31+22 = 206 days

Now then, the day number for September 13th, 2008 is going to be....

31+29+31+30+31+30+31+31+13 = 257

Since this year was a Leap Year, it has 366 days. Now we just subtract the number of days it took to get to September 13th, and we get...

366-257 = 109 days

So there are 109 days left in this year from there. Now we subtract the number of days between the release of D+P in Japan and in America with the number of days left in '08 after the Japanesse release, and we get....

209-109 = 97 days

Now then, by going down by the number of days in each month of 2009 before the subtraction leads to a negative, we get...

97-31 = 66-28 = 38-31 = 7

April 7th.

This is mere speculation, but if they use the same release timetable as D+P, we can expect it around there.

More as it comes in.
