Delian continues walking through the town, wondering if he'll like his new life here.
"No one knows me. Do they even want to know me? I'm just an outcast. I don't belong here." he thinks.
As he walks, people that he passes by glare at him. He ignores their stares, and continues thinking.

*walks past delian and wonders "who's that?"*

Delian continues walking, now entering the underpopulated, poor part of the city.
"My new home. Much worse than my previous, but I only just arrived. Luck will hit me eventually....I hope"

G: what do you mean?
You'll see when we get there. *walks to his house. opens the door and hurries her in. sees teh dg settle outside. walks in and shuts the door, locking it.*
G; *Gasps and stares at teh book case.* so many books. *goes to take one.*
STOP! *Grabs her wrist.* you take one of those off there, and my whole family gets a hound sent after them. *Leads her to a chair and gets ehr a glass of water.* okay. start talking. hwo are you?
G: my name is Alexandra, but you can calll me alex.
opkay. nice to meet you Alex. I'm arroy.
A: Hello. UIm... can you explain what happened back there?

Delian arrives at his small, one room apartment and walks in. He sets his bag on the floor and sits down.
His stomach growls
"Well, I better find something to eat." he says to himself

What do you mean?
A: The dogs, teh book, the copters. all of it.
Oh. Well, here, its aillegal to read unless its government apprved. That way, no one can get ideas and offend anyone or cuase trouble. the firemen help to control that. they're soldiers now. The dogs, well, they are the silent killers one of htem gets after you, you're dead.
A: tha's terrible.
Yeah. but i'm curious. What is it abotu you?
A: what do you mean?
Well, they usually just sickl the dogs. do they not have your DNA?
A: Its doubtful. if they do, it must eb lost.
Then you have the advantage. listen to advice. just leave. You're ndanger if you like to read.
A: BUt what about you? surely you must liek to read and think? be human.
I wish I could, butI can't.
A: well, then I'm not leaving either. thsi isn';t right. lets prote... *Arroy moves in and covers ehr motuh.*
*Starts to whisper.* Be quiet, tehy bugged my house. come on. *Leads her up to his room. another boy is there, aout Arroy's age.*

Delian leaves his room, even though he just got there. He must go buy some food with the little money he has. He travels back to the main part of town.

((we gotta interact sometime, or this story will continue being pointless))

Yeah, I know. I'm just waitng till the part where Arroy rebels. and I was going to do it when Arroy rebels. which was going to take place after the night scene when he goe to help the firemen.))

*The three talk for hours, and Arroy sees its getting dark.* Alex, why don't you stay here? fo rht enight?
A: oh, okay.
okay. *hears ringing and taps a pill shaped object in his ear.* Hello, Arroy speaking.
F: Arroy, get ready. we're picking you up so you can help us witha fire.
Fine. I'll eb ready.
F" We'll be there soon. be sure you are.

((Oh, okay))
While Delian is walking to the food store, he sees and smells a fire.
"Oh great. Now there are fires here too."
He runs to the fire and asks a fireman if they need help.
F-"Yeah. We could use some more."

Arroy heads downa nd Alex follows.* A; I'm coming with you.
says who?
A: me. *the door opens and hte fire fighter from before is in the door. he sees Alex.*
F: Come on. bring her to. she has a part in this.
What, why?
F: she just does. lets go. *teh get it eh fire truck,. he gives arroy a tank and Alex sits in back with arroy. they get to the house.* Right. lets go. *they all get out. Arroy and hte fireman go and start up the Kerosene fuel. They starts lighting the house on fire and hear screaming inside.*
I thought you were supposed to evacuate the house!
F: they refuse dto leave. we couldn't do anything. *Continue burning.*
A: *looks at huse and screams. runs over to arroy and pulls his hand back.* Stop!
Why?
A: that's my house!

Delian notices that there aren't any hoses.
He turns to the fireman.
"Do you need help because it seems that nobody is putting out the fire?"
F-"Put out the fire? No. We're starting the fire."
"WHAT!? How can you do that?"
F-"They refused to come out. We had no other choice."
"You could have broken the door down and pulled them out. This is too dangerous. You could get them all killed."
F-"That is the risk they took when they refused to leave."
"Hmm...I guess you're right."
Delian turned to leave, but he heard screaming. He couldn't take it.
He turned back around and faced the house. While he does so, he sees two new people arrive. They seem to be troubled by this too.

What do you mean this si your house?
A: its my house. I have to help. She goes to run tot he house. Arroy grabs her and holds her by the waste.*
Stop, you're just be killed as well. You can't help tehm, its over. *The house shudders, and collapses. Some books sit int eh rubble, on touched and the firemen go and shootflames on them. Alex looks a tthe remains and starts to cry.*
F: *walks over.* Arroy, you waht are you doing here?
Oh, hey dad. I ws told to come here.
ARroy's Dad: who is she?
ALex. this was her house.
AD: what? Oh miss, I'm so sorry.
*notices (Sir julian,w hat's your cahracter's neam again?)) and lets go of Alex.* I'll be right back. *Walks over to him as his dad comforts Alex.*

Delian stares in shock as the house collapses.
He notices someone walk towards him, but he ignores him.
Delian runs to the collapsed house and begins to dig, looking for bodies.
He refuses to believe that he just witnessed this. How can someone do this? It's immoral, it's torture. He thinks he sees a hand and moves towards it.
F-"Hey you, get out of there. You will get yourself burned. Doesn't the heat hurt?"
"No. I have no nerves."
And he continues digging while the firemen yell at him to get out, unable to do anything, or risk getting burned.

((Oh yeha. the town where one of stephen king's sotries takes place. I'll remmer it I think.))

*Runs over and pulls him away.&* Guy, you ahve to stop. *starts whispering in his ear so the firemen can't hear.* If you keep it up, they'lll suspecty you, and you'll be killed. that's why the dogs are here. just give it up. *Kicks the rubble and it comes a way. it shows Alex's mom, crushed and already gone.* they couldn't have survived. *looks at him.* now, wat is your name?

Delian glares at him. "I am Delian."
He turns away. And whispers, half to himself "How can they do this? It's murder. This is worse then being in a war."
He reluctantly follows the man.
"Who are you? It doesn't seem like you're one of them." he had an extra hatred emphasis on "them".
The image of that girl, crushed by the building, was stuck in his head. He held back tears.

((When it was or wasn't? oh yeah. unfortunately, I owned the book and had just red it.))

I'm arroy. and i'm nto liekt hem. *points to the fireman holding th egirl.* see taht guy, he's wearing blue while the others wear yellow or orange? he's my dad. he can help the girl. *Sighs* but you're right. it is murder. both my dad and myself knwo they didn't do anything. This is probably her punishment for readinga book. *looks over at the firemant that called him and sees an evil grin.* uh oh. that's not good. *the fireman is staring at Alex.*

((No. I mean, we argued over what the name of the town was.))
"Arroy? Strange name. But I shouldn't be talking, ey."
Delian hesitates.
"If your dad doesn't agree with this, why does he do it? Why does he join? And why is it illegal to read books?"
Then he notices what Arroy was talking about when he said "uh oh. that's not good."
"I swear on my life. If that man touches her, I will rip him to shreds. He and those others have done enough damage today."

its goign to be worse. and books are illegal cause peopel think. and wehen we think, stuff liek this happens. we can't have different ideas, cause that might upset some people. as for my dad. he does it so we can be safe. my family owns a large number of books. w e just can't read them. since he works doing this, he can take books home, and no one suspects him.
AD: *Holds the girl bhind him as the fireman approaches.*
It won't be himt hat hurts Alex. *has s slgiht look of terror as Arroy goes to garba fire ax and no one notices him.* its the dogs. *three hounds start to close in on Alex.* On my move. grab an axe. and a flmae thrower tank. we're fighting our way out of here.

"I've read plenty of books during my short time here. But I live in the poor part of town, so maybe that's why nobody has noticed."

Delian slowly creeps to the axe.
"I won't be using a flame thrower. The axe is good enough for me." he whispers
"It looks like my time in the war really will pay off, after all."

*makes sure flamethrower is full and move slowly with an axe.* you weer in the war? *looks at him, then shakes his hed.* not improtant. One my mark. *sees teh hounds ready to pounce, needles goiing in and outof their mouths. one gets ready to jump.* NOW! *Runs, and motions for Alex to duck. Alex gets down nd the hound jumps. Swings the axe, cutting its mouth off and destroying it.*
AD: *uses flamethrower and burns another hound,t hen uses it to burnthe firemen.* Arroy, you ahve to take alex and you new friend and get out of here.
But dad.
AD: Go. Stop at our house, and grab the medical dictionary, completel works of edgar allen poe, and whatever book your firends want. Your mother, brother, and I can take care of ourselves. *the third hound jumps at them as they are talking.*
