Ninth Palaver

Well life got busy. The remodel is going well though. Gutted the walls and got board up. Gonna have to plaster the walls and stuff before major appliances go in.

Sports started back up too.

Updating my house too. lol

So glad sports are back. Never liked watching baseball until the postseason, but I've been watching as much as I can. Deprived is the word. lol

Can't wait for basketball and football. Don't care with or without fans. Just pump crowd noise if necessary. Baseball has been doing it and it's fine. If no fans and no fake noise, I'll just mute the tv. All the same to me. lol

The walls are plastered at my house. What are you doing with yours?

I took off next week just to watch all the playoff hockey and they're doing the same thing with crowd noise. It's pretty good I like it. They had some exhibition games this week and I soaked that up like a sponge.

Recently moved to Iowa where my folks had replocated and where our extended family has been for decades. Had the whole house repainted on the interior. Replaced all the carpet with new. Changed out the remaining floors with hardwood for cohesiveness. Adding sliding barn doors to the office, adding french doors to the formal dining room. Too much stuff.

Worried the MLB might go under because of those Marlin Players that didn't follow protocol and infected their entire team (as well as a few from the Phillies). And now the Cards have done the same. Is it so hard to just go to work and then back home/hotel for a few months so you can get paid millions? Jeez.

This is why I think football has a chance. Games are weekly, meaning you can test players every single day in between. Might be better to have no bye week just so testing is constant and players don't have too much time on their hands to be stupid.

I might watch some of the NHL. The NBA has been tough to watch to begin the restart. It's like the players have done no practicing whatsoever during the last four months. Rusty is an understatement for a bunch of these guys. Not much defense is being played too. I can't watch the NBA All Star Game for every single game. lol

The NHL has been pretty competitive. They also already had a play in round and round robin stuff so everyone is pretty tunedup.

That's good to hear. The NBA is still tough to watch. They did a playoff between the #8 and #9 Seeds in the Western Conference, but it was a bust since #8 won and #8 only had to win one against #9 (whereas #9 would've had to defeat #8 twice to get in). The only silver lining is that any team has a shot in this environment (especially since the Warrior had a down year due to injuries).

Congrats. Hopefully it's nice and relatively modern. Unless you're one of those fixer upper types.

Im hoping for the bucks to win but that's mostly cause they were green so I picked them as my team. Other then that I take a passing interest in Dallas and Oakland but I know the one has rough sledding and the other isn't in.

It's more retro modern, if that makes sense. lol

I'm hoping the Heat can pull through and win it all. Those guys play hard and are ballers. But honestly, I'm hoping for anyone but the Lakers. lol

Yeah I feel like it's too easy to root for the Lakers

By the way I saw that tagged post you made about me in nostalgia thread and that was very kind of you. You're definitely one of my best friends too on or off site.

Definitely want Heat #1, Celtics #2, Clippers #3, and Lakers not at all. XD

Watch any football this weekend? Man, a lot of upsets that I wasn't expecting. lol

I watched a bit but didn't pay too close attention. Mostly I just watched the browns ravens game which went pretty much exactly as I expected.

I'm still getting use to the difference in start times. Thursday and Monday Night Games are too late for me unless I'm wired, have only been watching the first half for those. Some teams certainly dropped the ball in Week 1. I have no idea how the Eagles & Colts lost to the Redskins & Jags, respectively, when those two teams are widely considered to have the top two picks in next year's draft.

How do you think the league handles covid now that the titans threw the wrench in? Honestly I kinda thought it would be the dolphins or a Cali team.

The Titans are stupid. Had to shift things around because some of their players could stick to practicing, playing and going home. And now that they've been negative for a few days now, two more Titans went out and caught it. You can't write this stuff.

I'll be honest I really thought this would be one of the Texas teams or the fins especially when the Marlins were getting wrecked with it

Clearly better leadership with the teams that haven't had a positive test. Players alone should have enough discipline to stick to the strict protocols, but the coaches should constantly be reinforcing them.

Yeah you'd think but then the Steelers do what they did where they let McDonald on the plane and he had covid but they just played off the "well we didn't know cause it wasn't official" instead of taking caution.

I don't ever get worried. I know the Emerald Knight can take care of himself. ;)

Hopefully we can just get through the year without having to shorten the schedule and 50% of teams get in the playoffs. Worst idea ever.

Yeah, even though they lost, they got what they wanted: Lamar Jackson back after only one game.

I was shcoked the Steelers lost to Washington. I thought the Bills had the best chances of doing that.
