Fine. :/ I guess I can base the systems on this:

Thumbs up value: 1
Thumbs down value: -1

$thumbValue = Get the value of the thumb submitted ((1 or -1))
$totalThumbs = The existing number of thumbs already logged for the comment/post.

Update $totalThumbs=$totalThumbs plus $thumbValue

The value type of the number in the database will be integer, so it'll display anywhere from -99999999999 to 99999999999. Is having negatives and positives fitting for the word "likes", or should I change it to something else? :S

There's a catch to this. Once the software is released, you and the other 10 have to promote the site. The more you spread the word, the more people come. The more people come, the more money you make. If I'm right, you'll make around .02 cent per page view, granted the users don't use adblock. As it stands, the site gets 1500 page views per day. Primeleap should get more since people control their own forum there.
