The Second Palaver

Hope
The world is at rest
As we move forward
Always to our end
We go ever toward

Yet underneath us all
There stands a lonely girl
And with a move of her hands
She keeps us all awhirl

All of all existence
She bears upon her shoulder
She is our full security
Our sole loving holder

Her smile is our sun
Her tears are our rain
The weather is her mood
Our disasters are her pain

She watches as we live
And takes our worries all
So we may move freely
And she may take our fall

She greatly wished a friend
Someone to help her cope
So she bore a daughter
That helped renew her hope

Yet joy did not last
And she felt ever worse
The daughter she had bore
Began to share the curse

The babe was sad and sulky
The mother made her choice
She set her daughter free
Of our woesome voice

Soon she grew lonely
And thought to drop her work
Until she heard a voice
That she could never shirk

A lonely child cried
In silence just like she
She took all the tears
And joy she gave free

The mother contacted the girl
Her hopes of friendship high
The girl was contact by her mother
Her voice lifted to the sky

The two talked for hours everyday
The girl grew enthralled
She had found her daughter again
She was at her beckoned call

The two grew always closer
From finding each other in luck
Until one day it happened
To the daughter, tragedy struck

A man fell upon her
Far away from dawn
The mother watched helpless
As her daughter passed on

The mother wept viciously
Wailing the daughter’s name
All of it to no avail
Her daughter lay more than lame

At last she made her decision
The mother placed down Earth
She gave herself for her child
And she received a second birth

The daughter woke from death
And called to thank her mother
She found only silence
And despair began to smother

A flower grew from the concrete
In the girl’s tear’s place
The girl plucked the flower
And saw her mother’s face

The girl saw her new purpose
She was to continue the mother’s work
She traveled the land, ridding despair
Where ever it now lurked.

Unity

The woman had hair of gold
Her skin soft as silk
Her eyes laughed and danced
Her breath sweet as honeyed milk

The air around her was peaceful
Beings quarreled not
“She is lovely and she is grand,
As well as perfect,” I had thought

She invited me to sit with her
And at once my worries left
But never would I charge her
For the item lost in theft

We sat and sat for hours
Us alone upon that rock
And high above us both
Owls and swallows flew in flock

Behind us were two opposing rivers
Whose paths were blocked by stone
“Unblock their link,” she told me,
“And then my powers shall be shown.”

Unable to resist her will
I did what I was told
Once I had finished it,
My skin and body went cold

Both waters joined together
Uniting their different flows
The fish swam in unison
Underneath its thro’s

I turned to view the woman
Only to see she was gone
Then a moment later I realized
The fact upon me did dawn

The woman I had met was an angel
Peace and harmony she did bring
And everyday I return to that place
And everyday my love for her I do sing

The Red Coin

Once there was a man
Who was strolling down the street
He happened to look down
And simply gazed at his feet

A shiny red coin rested
On that dusty trail
The man picked up the coin
And walked on without fail

He turned to coin into his bank
His millions were soon bagged
“I will be living on my own,”
In happiness he almost gagged

For days he lived in lavish
Never worried about fare
Until one day he met a man
With red skin, tail, and hair

“Give me back me coin,”
The thing of red calmly said
“No,” the man declared to it
“Leave for I am not dead.”

“I wish to cause no trouble”
The thing kindly implored
“Well then leave my home,”
The man screamed, slamming his door

The thing in red broke it down
It was left in splinters
“Never again shall you see
Your wondrous earthly winters”

The thing in red whisked them to hell
Where our little thief agonized
And the thing in red got his coin
From the banker he had patronized.

This is a lesson
That you should heed
Here is the moral
So you may succeed

Losers may cry or whimper
While finders will surely keep
But steal from the thing in red
And you will be left to weep.

Lost Salvation

In front of me is my tower
In all its golden glory
The story of my arrival
Is much too long a story

Instead here is my life
Built of stone and mason
My soul lights its rooms
And sends my heart a racin’

The gods all tried to stop me
Throwing curse and demons all
But I stood with my sword
Watching each one fall

One other stands against me
This enemy I know well
For he is me and I am him
Returned from my own hell

He drew his dreaded six shot
That held five more than needed
I tightened on my sword’s hilt
The sweat on my brow beaded

I rushed forward to myself
In great haste and speed
He fired in a show of flames
The bullet going to its deed

I knew I never missed
And cut the missile in half
Each part flew past me
On their own deadly path

Myself fired four more
In front of the blazing sun
I had been running breathless
Shocked at what I had done

He stood but a foot from me
And the barrel tapped my head
But before the cartridge could spin
I cut him down, myself now dead

With confidence and pride
I walked to my salvation
And thought to myself
There would be no retaliation

But lightning struck the tower
The Gods appeared not yet done
They all laughed above me
Knowing they had won

The tower crumbled there
Right before my eye
I fell to me very knees
And began to cry

My greatest asset left me
My steel determination
As I wept before the rubble
Of my lost salvation

Freedom Upon the Great Sea’s Thro’s

Once upon the ocean
There was a great cruise liner
And on them there stood a girl
Who stood out by the diner

This girl was rich, yes rich
And yet she was also poor
She had her piles of money
But was kept behind a locked door

She always wished for freedom
But her chance would never be
Until the waters grew violent
And she was pitched into the sea

Silently she fell to her doom
The blue swallowed her from sight
The girl soon blacked out
And did not wake till full light

She came to very slowly
And felt sand beneath her
She looked ahead to a lush forest
And wondered what company they were

She thought she was alone
And crawled into a ball
She wept to herself there
And for help she did call

A boy watched from the trees
Unsure of what the girl would do
But he took pity on her there
For he had been there to

The boy walked to the girl
And placed a hand on her shoulder
The girl looked into his masked face
And the fear began to smolder

“I am Jacob,” he told her
“Welcome to my island”
“My name is Madeline,” she said
“Born to English lovers in Ireland”

“It is a pleasure to meet you”
Jacob said with much glee
“I’ve not had a visitor here
Since I was one and three”

Madeline looked at the boy
One and six, just like her
She wore a white dress
And he wore shirts of fur

“I’m pleased to meet you Jake”
Madeline said without dread
“I really hate to ask this
But do you have a bed?”

Jacob led her to his hut
Hidden in the forest deep
And Madeline lay in his bed
Where she quickly fell to sleep

Jacob and Madeline grew close
Indeed they feel in love
But Jacob saw her unhappy
Asking “What is wrong, my dove?”

Madeline shook her head
“I only miss my homeland
Perhaps we could leave here
And I could take your left hand”

Jacob then looked with sadness
“I’m sorry I must stay here
But for you to be forgotten
Is my most greatest fear”

“I shall help you home
Along with my memory
And as long as you have that
You shall always be free

For weeks they worked together
And on the raft left Madeline
“Look inside the pack” Jacob said
“When I first become unseen”

Madeline parted with him
“My heart is always yours”
She set sail exclaiming
“I’ll wait at Heaven’s Doors”

Soon she was alone and sad
Out with only the fish and birds
When she could not see the island
She followed Jacob’s words

Madeline looked inside her pack
And saw that he left a note
The tears flowed from her freely
As she read what he had wrote:

I don’t know what will happen
I don’t know we’re you’ll go
But I know you have your freedom
