Web & Programming Concepts - General Web Site Project Guidelines

This chapter we will begin working on your web site for the semester project. This will count as part of several assignment grades. The first step is to define what you want to use as your project and submit a plan that outlines the web pages you plan to create. The minimum number of pages are three that must be hand-coded in HTML/XHTML using an external stylesheet. The site must meet the ICC telecommunication policy concerning appropriate material to be included on the pages. Future assignments will allow you to create the home page and the additional two pages to submit for a grade. The grading rubric has been included in this chapter folder to help you understand what is required and the point value for each item. For example, a heading (hi) where i can be 1-6 depending upon the size heading you want, is required. This can be on each page, but is only required once somewhere on the three pages. Complete the following steps to begin your web site development and design.

Design/plan the web site. 50 points credit

• In a document named YOURNAMEWebSite.doc perform the following.
  
• Plan the Web Site: Write a brief mission statement for your Web site.
  
• Analyze the need: The purpose of your web site and identify the site?s target audience.
  
• Design the Web Site:
  


• Choose the content of the Web pages. List the Web pages you want to have at your site. Minimum number of web pages is three linked together. Determine the images to be used on each page.
  


• Determine the types of Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) that you will use. It is required that you have one external style sheet for your web site however, you may have embedded or inline styles to customize a particular page or tag.
  


• Determine how the pages will link to one another. Based upon the structures defined in the textbook on pages HTML 16-20 (example: hierarchical) determine which link method(s) you will use. Use the storyboard method to lay out the organizational structure of your Web site. (If you are using Word to create your document, you may use the drawing tools to insert an organization chart or flowchart symbols to use for your storyboard ? add to YOURNAMEWebSite.doc).
  


• Establish what other links are necessary. It is required that a minimum of one of each of the following links are incorporated: email, internal and external to existing web site.

Good content ? meets ICC telecommunication policy standards - 9 points

No, I'm looking for a gun. This is all due in 1 hour and 55 minutes.

Break it down into pieces.....

First what you want to do is plan your web site like it said...follow the step by step instructions on what is asks for and plan it out.

the second part mostly has to do with the standards and the coding that you will use in the planning and in the building of the website, mostly that can be found in your book probably. Just take one at a time and use the each like each code like a checklist. Did you use this code in this standard without error, if so check it off if you didn't then you need to go fix it...

that's why I always tried to do when I had to work on a web design project in class.
