In the ORIGINAL games, yes. Back then, he was just as fast as Sonic, and with flying, you could easily skip portions of levels. And it was fun.
Nowadays, no. Blaze is better, if only she hadn't starred in the crappiest Sonic games to date. Sonic Rush was OKAY, but wasn't great. And you know everyone hates 06.

I never played those later games. I stopped at Shadow the Hedgehog. I downloaded Sonic Unleashed the other day, but it's just lost all the fun of the old Sonic games. They have you running around, searching everywhere for these little medals in levels. It takes you ages of going as slow as possible in the levels to find enough just to unlock the next level, so it's just not fun. :/

I haven't even bothered picking up anything since the Black Knight. That was an interesting game, I mean, giving Sonic a sword? I was skeptical of the idea, but grew to enjoy it. But once you get far enough, it becomes boring after beating the 'superboss' or whatever you wanna call the Shadow re challenge battle. Sadly enough, that boss is the most difficult thing in that game to date, and basically requires you to memorize his exact movements and attacks to beat him in under 15 seconds for a 5 star rating >_<
