You ever seen that Faces of Death movie? I've been watching it for almost two hours now, and it's sorta stupid...

No, I haven't. But speaking of 'Death' and 'Movie' in the same sentence, have you seen Battle Royale? It's the original movie about a bunch of people pitted against each other and killing themselves until one survived. The same one that 'The Hunger Games' copied.

How old is it? I haven't seen it, but I'll look into it.

I think it's from 2000? The graphics aren't the greatest. It's in Japanese with English subtitles on netflix.

I should note: It's rather intense in gore. Just a word of caution.

So "The Hunger Games" is a watered-down version?

Yeah, pretty much. See, everyone rejected Battle Royale because it's about a Japanese class of students who get taken on a 'field trip' to a government controlled island where they need to fight to the death. Incredibly gory and depressing. As such, it was rejected because of the message given through it.

The Hunger Games is a fantasy world where all the intense graphics and artwork make it look like it could NEVER happen. The public loved it. It's also not nearly as gory as Battle Royale.

It's about a boy who is framed for brutally murdering his entire middle school class. They were going to go on a field trip to a place called "Deadman Wonderland," the first public penal colony that was started after the Red Hole incident in Tokyo, where criminals are forced to provide entertainment for the visitors, so it's basically a prison version of Disneyland. The boy (Ganta) is sent there as his sentence as a death row inmate, and it is discovered he's one of the few people called Deadmen who gained special powers from the Red Hole Incident. He's pitted in a series of death matches against other Deadmen for other people's entertainment in an event called "Carnival Corpse."
