Why not just buy a laptop? You can get a good one for around $250. Or just hard boot your old mac and replace a few parts then start it up again.

I've been there before. And speaking on work - I feel like I'm failing at work. Normally when I open my mouth, people facepalm. That's what the General Manager does. But the waiters, waitresses, cooks, DMO's, and assistant managers... they just laugh. I swear I can't get anywhere no matter what I say, and it's annoying.

Example of how I can peeve off the contracted workers - The ones that come in and repair everything in the store.

So a few weeks ago, this guy comes in and starts fixing everything. The ceiling, grills, floors, and the tile in the large floor sinks. He had his hands wrist deep in cement, and his phone was going off. I just happened to pass by when his phone started ringing. He couldn't answer it, so he asked me to reach in his pocket, pull out his phone, and answer it.

I told him that was a bad idea, but he yelled for me to do it. I shrugged and answered it with this little number.

"Jizzy pleasure domes. How can we make all your sexual fantasies come true...?"

All I heard was yelling on the other end. It was his wife. I gave a quick ohshit and threw his phone in his lap. He was beyond mad at me. I clocked out and got out of there before I got my rear end handed to me.

Mission complete

Example of how I taught my General Manager one important lesson - Never get Derek to talking.

So I was filling up the mop bucket when I heard my General Manager, Dave, on the phone. He sounded like he was in an argument. Something about him not teaching the employees the rules of IHOP. He turned around and held the phone out in my direction, then asked me a question.
Dave-" What's the number one rule of IHOP."
Derek-" Never get the DMO to start talking. That ****** doesn't have a censor box on him. Just last night, he was talking about how tongue rings = Good oral."

His face turned red as a strawberry. :D
I got flipped off by my General Manager.

Mission complete

Examples of how I completely fail against Tabatha, the Assistant Manager.

I'm sitting by the office in a chair while on break. Briana, a waitress, comes in and shows Tabatha a picture on her phone. All I know is these girls started giggling and saying "Boy, put some clothes on!" I can only guess they're looking up porn.

They ask me to be the judge of it. I flat out say, "The only guy I judge is myself, and I look damn good without any pants on."

They just run off laughing, trying to tell everyone what I just said. She was supposed to facepalm at that. :/

Mission Failed

It's 4am, and I'm about to leave. We're just waiting for the 5am rush from the local Toyota plant. Jeremy, Quan, Tabatha - All the people I'm friendly with are there just talking in the back corner of the store. Some are enjoying ice cream, others pancakes.

Somehow we got on the subject of preferred life partners. Jeremy was explaining what his ideal wife is, then suddenly the attention is turned on me. They all start saying how they've never seen me shift towards either gender. How I treat everyone the same. They start saying I'm bisexual, which then I have to explain to them what asexual is.

They start saying asexual is just another term for gay.
Jeremy-" So what you're saying is you're not attracted to women."
Derek-" No, I just have self control. I'm not showing any favor to women until I hit 25 and my early life goal is over."
Jeremy-" So are you gay?"
Derek-" No, I'm not gay."
Tabatha-" How do you know."
Derek-" Because seeing a woman naked makes me hard. WTF kind of question is that?"

They laugh at my impulsive response. Yet another time I've failed to get a facepalm.

It is sorta sad how I can make more than the managers at McDonalds do for 1/3 of the work. I love IHOP. It's really the best job I've had so far.

I wish I could afford a visit to California. I want to visit Garret, Gabby, and Eli. They all live relatively close, I think.
