P: *uses the attack, but this time as quick attack and charges at it*

"Trix, stay close enough and use a Tackle!"

Electrike, already running from his entry onto the field, easily dodges the attack, pivots, and goes for a tackle.

Attract!

P: *stops and turns to face it, using attract on it*

The Electrike was hit dead-on by the attack, but was already in mid-air, using the tackle attack, and kept going.

P: *gets hit and falls back a couple a feet, then gets up and rushes at it while it's affted by the attract*
Assist!
P: *goes to use drain punch at point blank*

Electrike, unable to recover quick enough, was hit directly by the attack.

"Trix! No!"

Lizzy runs to the middle of the field again, this time for her Electrike.

"Damn..." she curses to herself.

((Anthony, I'm going to control RedWood, so I can move on in the story. Get it out of the way quicker. I hope you don't mind - I'm assuming he's technically an NPC, considering he's not under anyone's character list or anything.))

"Hmm? No, of course not. She can sit there, of course."

RedWood returns with a glass of water for Jay and a cup of coffee for himself.

"So. What are these questions of yours?"

"Well... why is it that I can speak to my Caterpie? Before, I couldn't hear her or anything. But after I caught her, I've been able to understand what she's saying..."

"Ah, well... I suppose I should have told you about this before, but I wasn't sure how you'd react..."

He hesitates.

"To put it simply, those six Pokeballs I gave you are all modified. I added an extra component to them. Let me explain:
When a Pokemon is captured, it's mass is converted into energy, so it can fit inside of the Pokeball. The chip I put into the Pokeball adds a little thing to the energy that makes up whatever Pokemon. By pressing the lock button on the front of the ball, you had this same thing added to your body. From this point on, the Pokemon's thoughts are able to be transferred to your brain, so you can hear and understand what the Pokemon says."

Jay sits in silence for a moment.

"So... you modified the Pokeball to add some type of... thing... into the Pokemon and into myself, so we can communicate? Is this safe? Have you tested it before?"

"Well, I've tested the basic concept on myself. But I've never tested it in combination with the Pokeball modification. There should be no health problems due to this - to yourself or your Pokemon. The only thing you have to worry about is the Pokeball breaking.

"Alright. Well, I suppose it's too late now. I have five more Pokeballs with this... feature."

That's correct. Now, you had more questions?

"Yes, I did."

They both sit in silence for awhile, drinking their beverages.

well... he did well enough for his first battle.
yeah, too bad the kid was affected by status. but it will be good experience for the next match.
But he won in the end, and thats worth something.
yeah, worth a badge *smiles* Lets hope our match goes as well.
If not more smoothly.

But what am I supposed to DO? In the world? With myself?"

Well, some trainers dont do anything, they just ask for the pokemon and take it home, making a friendship that way and keeping them as what I call a companion pokemon. Of coures we hav actual breeders that breed pokemon specifically for this purpose. Though I think caterpie are highly soought after.

Then other trainers use them for battling, and take on the league. Seeking fame, or glory, or just the sense of adventure. Others use them for battle breeding, though I do like the idea as they consider the weak peokmon to be useless.

Then finally theres people who unfortunately just... use pokemon for crime. These people are dispicable, and should never be allowed to see the light of day. *face darkens as he glares off into face* you must never become one of these people. *stares at him with a hard stare, then blinks and shakes head, smilng* so the choice what you do is up to you.
